My Freelance
Writing Projects
As a creative freelance writer, I am
happiest when creating my own non-fiction original works. Writing is my
favorite form of self-expression!
Although I do provide for-hire
services such as ghostwriting,
book proposals,
websites and
more, I also write under my own
by-line.
My writing style has been described as casual and
conversational, genuine, and is often humorous with a touch of gentle sarcasm.
I like to think I simply write from the heart, or as if I am sitting across the
table, conversing with my readers.
I have written how-to and personal
experience pieces ranging from travel essays and a blog on being over 40 and
single, to articles and newsletters on personal development and web design, to
my recent book, The Writing
Coach's Guide to FINALLY Writing Your Book!
I am currently
developing book proposals for two personal experience/travel narrative books
and am interested in writing a regular weekly or monthly column focusing on
"single life over 40 and overseas".
Here's a peek at my published
works and projects-in-progress. If you are a literary agent or publisher
interested in representing me, or a magazine editor interested in working with
me to develop these concepts for your publication,
contact me to discuss any of these
projects in more detail.

The Writing Coach's Guide to FINALLY Writing Your
Book! Published in January 2006 as an e-book to guide aspiring
authors from "wannabee published" to "Author! Author!", this unique book fills
a void in the current writer's reference book market. I am presently developing
a book proposal to bring this book to a wider market through print
publication.
Contributor for The Paris Blog I
am a regular contributor to The Paris Blog, a "team blog" devoted to all
aspects of living in or visiting the City of Light.
Contributor for Bonjour Paris I
was one of the contributors at Bonjour Paris, a weekly on-line magazine
for Francophiles and lovers of the beautiful city of Paris. Visit
Bonjour Paris to read some of my
articles.
Published Articles I have had a number of articles
published and reprinted in magazines, trade publications, web sites and
professional association newsletters. Contact me for permission to reprint. Blogs and Newsletters
The Bold Soul blog In February 2005, I began
blogging my thoughts and personal experiences primarily focused on my desire to
move to Paris, France, and what it's like being over 40 and "still single".
Tens of thousands of readers from over 55 countries around the world regularly
tune in to The Bold Soul!
The Write Edge for Aspiring
Authors A free newsletter for authors and future authors, containing
tips and ideas based on the material in my
book.
Get the WOW! e-zine From March 2004
through 2006, I self-published a free tips newsletter from my web design
business, Get the WOW!; although I no longer publish this e-zine, I'm in
the process of turning the back-issues into a small e-book.
Living Boldly® e-zine My original
self-published e-zine. I created Living Boldly® in 1999 as an extension of
my career/life coaching practice, which I operated between 1997 and 2005. While
I no longer actively publish this e-zine, the
archives are still available for your
review. Concepts (in progress)
Book: Traveling in Her
Footsteps 50 years ago, my grandmother (who was then the same age I
am now) toured post-war Europe in the company of her husband and adult son (my
grandfather and father), just two years before my parents met. My father was
stationed in France with the American Army, and during their three week tour,
my grandmother kept a journal where she noted not only their itinerary but her
impressions of the sites she saw. She even noted the very inexpensive costs of
hotels and meals in 1956 Europe.
I'm developing a book idea in which I
trace my grandmother's footsteps through Europe and document my experiences and
impressions of what it's like to travel through Europe as a woman, 50 years
later and in a world that went from post-war life where women traveled in the
company of men to post-September 11th Europe where, as a single female
American, I have a whole new set of issues to consider as I travel alone. I
feel that this book would appeal strongly to a female audience, especially
single women who travel solo (or wish they could) and that it would also
interest men who enjoy reading personal travel narratives.
Book or
Magazine Column concept: Over 40 and Overseas It is my intention
to fulfill a long-held dream in 2006: moving to Paris to have the experience of
living abroad and being able to travel more extensively in Europe with Paris as
my "home base". I've wanted to live in Paris since I was 13 years old, but for
one reason or another, life always seemed to get in the way, but not for the
same reasons the average woman (married with children) might have.
As a
single woman who is over 40, the decision to leave the familiar turf of my home
state of New Jersey, and all my friends and family, to move alone to a foreign
country is not something I take lightly... but I don't want to live my life
being afraid to take risks and missing out on things I really want to do, just
because I'm "still single". As I make the transition from "State-side" to
"French-at-heart", I plan to journal and document my experiences, and I hope to
be able to share them with other women who need a little extra inspiration to
go out and achieve their own dreams.
This concept would work equally
well as a magazine column or as a travel narrative book. |
